The city is the product of sedimentation and selection. To adapt to future needs, the proposal will encompass a wide range of activities and places in a narrative of richness that will maximize interchanges, balancing between a community habitat and a space open to the city. The project acts with the logic of social economy optimizing the resources and stimulating interaction between site occupants and occasional users. Several degrees of sharing are promoted within similar programs and between different ones. At the upper floors a various residential offer, offices, hotel; on the ground commerce, shared or public spaces. A twelve-meter-wide spine crosses the site north-south, dividing the landscape on the railway side from the central pedestrian axis. A sequence of convincing urban experiences, where the morphology of the built holds the voids, results in highly solid and integrated public spaces.
“The overall ensemble [...] features an inviting gesture. Inner and outer space interpenetrate and are provided with several footpaths enabled by the development partially on stilts.” Jury’s point of view extract from 070_E13_GRAZ_SL_GrazUnited
